Rounding Games for Kids 🎯

Free games for rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 — no signup, works on any Chromebook or iPad.

Grade 3 — nearest 10: look at the ones digit. If it is 0–4, round down to the lower ten; if it is 5–9, round up to the next ten. So 43 rounds to 40, and 47 rounds to 50. On a number line, the question is simply which ten the number sits closer to.

Grades 3–4 — nearest 100: now the tens digit decides. 0–4 rounds down, 5–9 rounds up, so 349 rounds to 300 and 351 rounds to 400. Students should notice that the ones digit no longer matters once you round to the hundred.

Grades 4–5 — using rounding to estimate: round each number first, then add or subtract to check whether an answer is reasonable. For example, 298 + 412 is about 300 + 400 = 700. The Estimate mode in this game practises exactly that.
