A free classroom seating chart teachers actually use. Paste your student names, pick rows × columns, and get a random, printable free classroom seating chart in one click — no signup, no ads. Works on smartboards, Chromebooks, iPads and phones.
Edit rows, columns, and desk labels below — then click Generate Seating Chart to assign seats.
Shown at the top and bottom of printouts and the PDF export — handy for sub plans.
Set your rows × columns slightly larger than your roster size. The seating chart generator automatically places students randomly while leaving excess desks labeled as "Empty", balancing space throughout the classroom.
You can map our standard grid to any room layout. For pods, group adjacent desks together in your mind (e.g., Row 1 Col 1-2 and Row 2 Col 1-2). For a U-shape, map the outer edges of the grid to your outer walls.
Generate the seating chart randomly to eliminate bias first. Once generated, you can swap students manually to keep key "anchor" students at the front or near the board to meet specific learning needs.
